not the mind's desert

the green desert

after rain

***

out here

distinctions blur

***

against blue sky

morning moon

desert rock

against desert rock

***

all the world

here to be seen

***

water has its own

time

light has its own

***

i keep looking

for the spaces

in between

***

light turns fluid

bends through canyons

cascades

over sand and rock

***

where am i hiding

in this poem

from what

***

how can i look

inside

***

light's edge

slowly lifts

across the canyon

in morning

where am i

& where the canyon

outside desert

outside sky

outside light

outside light

***

we start in silence

silence is outside

of time

***

sky cuts the depth

of mountains

what does it mean

***

what meaning

in the shadows

moving up

sides of canyons

***

i am trying to see

the edge of light

***

where self

dissolves

in desert night

***

sitting inside a room

where do we go

***

& then

& then

& then

& now

& then

***

lift of mountains

elevation

horizon

expanse

***

where will we go

when we are ready

what will we bring

***

we wait for rain

this driving wind

***

desert itself

light itself

water itself

not these words

let them go

***
