OUTSIDE WORK // GUIDING ~~~~~~~~
Eric Magrane is a Senior Hiking Guide and Staff Naturalist for Canyon Ranch. He leads hikes of all levels in the Sonoran Desert & in the mountains (Sky Islands) surrounding Tucson. He also lectures at Canyon Ranch on the Poetry of Wilderness, leads Nature Discovery Hikes and Bird Walks, High Ropes Course, and the occasional Poetry Hike.
OUTSIDE WORK // INSIDE WORK // TEACHING ~~~~~~~~
Eric often mentors students in Prescott College's ADP program in fields such as Poetry, Environmental Literature, and project-based writing & cross-genre courses. He has also regularly teaches at The University of Arizona Poetry Center.
OUTSIDE WORK // IN THE NATIONAL PARKS~~~~~~~~
Along with collaborator Wendy Burk, Eric has been an Artist in Residence in three National Parks (Isle Royale National Park, Buffalo National River, and Big Cypress National Preserve). ~~~Read a little more about the 2008 residency here.
Magrane earned his M.F.A. from The University of Arizona and his B.A. from Goddard College and has received grants & awards from the Tucson Pima Arts Council and the Arizona Commission on the Arts.
